This is first OST for the five part OVA Macross Zero. As Macross Zero is still in production in Japan (only two volumes have been released), not many have seen it yet. I saw the first two parts at a friend of mine (he's a big fan of Macross), but with only japanese language and no subtitles I didn't understand much of the plot (my japanese is very limited). Luckily my friend kept me on the track. What really got my attension was the music. Music has always been very closely tied to Macross. So went and bought this CD. The CD can roughly divided in to three different types of music. There's classical tension music which is very militaristic and kind of epic like. Then there's this "tribal" music which uses a lot of choir, drums and other primitive instruments (Macross Zero's setting being a tropical island in the Pacific, this fits very nicely). And last, but not least, the songs which are very beautiful. This CD had a very hard competition with Yoko Kanno's Macross Plus OSTs, but in my book Macross Zero's OST came as a winner. You won't be sorry if you buy this.
