Meet Dee Laytner and his half-Japanese partner, Randy (call me Ryo) McLane, a pair of detectives at New York City's 27th Precinct. Not only are these two crime fighters always chasing down criminals, but Dee can't stop himself from trying to chase down Ryo. Is it just his blond hair and dark eyes that attract him so, or is it something more.Tired of working in the big city, our heroes set off for a vacation in England, full of relaxation, recreation, and opportunity for Dee/But when Japanese Americans start turning up dead outside Dee and Ryo's hotel, the ever vigilant mismatched investigators become embroiled in the local crime scene/ Although their hotel had seemed to be the perfect little romantic rendezvous, these small town murders promise to fill their vacation with mysterious strangers, danger and action of every kind.

Although a bit random and a bit short, a pretty good anime. However, anyone who hasn't picked up the anime definetely should, b/c it's a lot longer, and pretty much has you on the floor sobbing with laughter, but the anime's pretty cool too.

If you're looking for down and dirty yaoi title, take a look at Ai no Kusabi. But if you want some non-explicit light-yaoi, Fake is the way to go. If you don't fall in love with these characters, there's something wrong with you. Dee, expertly voiced by the wonderful Seki Tomokazu, just can't reel Ryo in, and it’s unfortunate that you never get to see the rest of the story, but the manga is being released so that should put a damper on the heat. The story contained in the OVA is actually in volume 2 of the manga, so some things aren’t exactly explained. Either familiarize yourself with the manga or visit the web before you see this, otherwise you might not understand what the characters are talking about in some scenes. I know heterosexual males who like this, so don’t shy away from it just because it’s got guys kissing guys (although that is one of its perks). It’s a largely entertaining story that I have watched repeatedly since I purchased it on DVD.

I love Fake! Anyone who loves shounen ai will love Fake! Dee is just adorible and it's funny to watch him battle wits with a kid who's no older then ten or so. My only beef with Fake is J.J's dubbed voice. Very annoying, but don't let that stop you of getting this!

I couldn't have worded the review for Fake any better. I hate self-promoting but it's fun trivia. See, I'm making an AMV for FAKE to Backstreet Boy's "That's The Way I Like It" (Old song but it gets the point across) lol. Too bad there's only ONE OVA but I'll be getting tha mangas soon. ^_^ Once I've gotten all of Yami No Matsuei. (4 volumes to go) WAI! FAKE WAS SO COOL!!!!

Fake is a good anime, if you like bishonen-ai but don't want yaoi (yet). There's some lip action between the two male leads, but nothing much else. The main characters are well-defined (for one episode) and there is comedy thrown in with the romance, horror, and mystery. A well-rounded selection. Me, I just love boys who love boys.
