In an epic battle, King Phelios defeats King Dusel, but both monarchs are mortally wounded. As the two lay dying, Dusel prophesies that they will meet again, sometime in another place and another time, and vows that he will be triumphant. The moment of resurrection happens hundreds of years later when Dusel comes back as a menacing baby wildcat who is rescued from the wild and adopted by Ishtar, the great-granddaughter of his nemesis, King Phelios. Ishtar is a playful girl with an iron will and a penchant for pranks, a trait that distresses her caretaker, Sir Keld, and a dashing imperial guard, Captain Dales. Ishtar is not, however, the reincarnation of Phelios, leaving the now-feline Dusel to continue his quest for revenge - without letting his new owner know that he is hell-bent on destroying her family ... but would Ishtar even care about that if she knew?

I have to recommend this manga, especially if you're one for humor and complicated story lines! The first volume sets up the premise: the vampire king Duzell has been reincarnated and seeks revenge on the reincarnation of his arch-enemy Phelios. Two problems: A) He's been reincarnated as a house cat B) He doesn't know who's Phelios' reincarnation is. Duzell is taken in by Phelios' great-grandaughter Ishtar, and she agrees to help him in his quest. The first volume may not be much to some people, but wait to at least the second or third volume and I guarantee you'll be hooked by the manga-ka's mysterious plotlines and complicated characters!

my friend and i were searching the manga section and she saw vampire game and so she clicked and we read it and we both thought it was soooooooooooooetc... interesting that this weekend i went to my waaldens book store and bought it! it is such a good manga i loved it speciually duessel! any way im going to be geting the 2nd one this weekend i hope it's as good as the first! i cant wait everybody should read vampire game!!!!

This novel is ok, but it just seems kind of juvenile to me.. I guess because it (well, this first volume at least) does not require much thinking... The story line is good but the characters are really flat, except for maybe the knight that takes care of the princess... He's a little mysterious (^_^ maybe that's why I like him...). Well, if you are looking for something that you can just breeze through, and kinda relax with, then this would be a good choice. But if you are looking for a story that will involve you more, then go for something like Fruits Basket! ^_^

Dussel is adorable! He is cute as a cat and a man. The story is great so far! I like the Knight that protects lady Ishtar as well. Can't wait to see what happens next!
